Information technology company CA Inc. said Friday it will eliminate an additional 400 jobs under a restructuring plan, bringing its total planned job eliminations to 2,800 positions.
CA also said it will consolidate global facilities and take other cost-cutting actions as part of the initiative.
The Islandia, N.Y.-based company expects the new actions to result in additional pretax restructuring charges between $75 million and $100 million, bringing the restructuring plan's total pretax costs to between $275 million and $300 million.
The total expenses includes termination charges of about $200 million to $215 million. The costs of global facilities consolidation will total about $75 million to $85 million, CA said.
Under the fiscal 2007 restructuring program announced in August 2006, CA said it would cut 1,700 jobs, representing about 10 percent of its work force. In February, the company increased the estimated number of job cuts to 2,400 in a regulatory filing.
CA shares fell 9 cents to close at $23.24.
