Shares of silver producers fell shortly after the opening bell Tuesday as the price of silver declined in London trading.
The broader market also slid, with Dow Jones industrial average falling 77.68, or 0.62 percent, to 12,534.75 and the Standard & Poor's 500 index falling 9.10, or 0.66 percent, to 1,363.44.

Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. fell 10 cents, or 2.8 percent, to $2.83
Pan American Silver Corp. fell 48 cents to $38.85
Hecla Mining Co. fell 18 cents to $11.56
Silver Standard Resources Inc. fell 43 cents to $30.81.
