Shares of telecommunications service providers closed Wednesday on a high note as solid quarterly results from Intel, JPMorgan and Coca-Cola offered relief to investors worried about the health of the economy.

Cisco Systems Inc. rose 72 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $23.83.
Alcatel-Lucent American Depositary Shares rose 26 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $6.04.
Nortel Networks Corp. rose 21 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $7.06.
Juniper Networks Inc. rose 88 cents, or 3.9 percent, to $23.61.
