Credence cuts 2nd-quarter outlook on lower customer revenue

By Associated Press April 16, 2008

0 Recommendations

Credence Systems Corp., a chip testing equipment maker, said Wednesday it expects a wider second-quarter loss than previously expected, partly because of a revenue shortfall at one of its main customers.

Credence now expects a loss of 14 to 17 cents per share, compared with previous guidance of a loss of 9 to 11 cents per share in the fiscal second quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect a loss of 6 cents per share.

The company also said it does not expect to achieve profitability during the fiscal fourth quarter and expects a decline in revenue in fiscal 2008.

The company said lower-than-expected revenue from a major customer, as well as delays in restructuring moves such as selling assets, closing plants and cutting staff, hurt results.
