Vicor Corp., which makes electrical components, said Monday it named James A. Simms as its chief financial officer.
Simms, who also was named to Vicor's board, previously served as a managing director of the privately held investment bank Needham & Co. LLC.
Simms is an independent director of Par Technology Corp. and serves as a member of its audit and compensation committees, as well as chair of the information-technology company's governance and nominating committees, Vicor said.
Richard J. Nagel Jr., who had been serving as interim chief financial officer, along with vice president and chief accounting officer, will remain as vice president and chief accounting officer.
Vicor shares fell 28 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $11.96 in morning trading.
