The following recalls have been announced:
_ Lifetime Brands Inc. is recalling certain patterns of plates and bowls because they could be contaminated with the toxic heavy metals lead and cadmium. The company's Nautica J Class Red dinner plates, Nautica J Class Red salad plates and Pfaltzgraff Villa della Luna dinner plates were recalled for containing high levels of cadmium. In addition. Pfaltzgraff Villa della Luna soup and cereal bowls were recalled for containing high levels of lead. No injuries or illnesses have been reported. The recalled products were sold individually and in sets both online and at stores around the country. _ Bella Cucina is recalling 6-ounce glass jars of porcini and parmesan pesto, because of the potential for bacterial contamination. The pesto's pH is higher than it should be and as a result the jars could harbor Clostridium botulinum. This bacteria can produce the toxin that causes botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. No illnesses have been reported.
