VERNON, Calif. (AP) _ Pricey jeans maker True Religion Apparel Inc. said Tuesday its fourth-quarter profit more than doubled, due to a big boost in sales in both its wholesale and retail businesses.

PITTSBURGH (AP) _ United States Steel Corp. reported a 14 percent drop in first-quarter earnings Tuesday as record sales failed to offset declines in its European and tubular businesses.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., which operates the nation's second-largest railroad, said Tuesday that its first-quarter earnings jumped 30 percent on more rail shipments of farm products and coal, as well as larger fuel surcharges.

DALLAS (AP) _ Television station owner Belo Corp. said Tuesday that it swung to a loss in the first quarter after accounting for the spin-off of four newspapers.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Medical device maker American Medical Systems Holdings Inc. said Tuesday its first-quarter earnings more than doubled on strong sales of products to treat erectile dysfunction and male incontinence.

NOVATO, Calif. (AP) _ Biotechnology company BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. said Tuesday it swung to a first-quarter profit on higher product sales and collaboration revenue.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Utility operator and coal producer TECO Energy Inc. said Tuesday its first-quarter profit dropped 58 percent following the sale of the company's transport division and the loss of a tax credit for producing synthetic fuel.
