Paper maker P.H. Glatfelter Co. said Tuesday it expects its second-quarter volume to be flat compared with same quarter of 2007, while selling prices are expected to be slightly higher than in the first quarter of 2008.
The company also said it still plans to complete its annual scheduled maintenance outages at its Spring Grove facility in York, Pa., and Chillicothe, Ohio, plant in the second quarter, which will reduce its earnings by 22 cents to 25 cents per share.
Similar outages reduced the company's profit by 22 cents per share in the second quarter of 2007.
Glatfelter said it also plans to complete an upgrade of a paper machine in Germany during the quarter, which will require downtime on the machine and reduce its second- and third-quarter earnings by 1 cent per share each.
Glatfelter shares fell 48 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $13.35 in morning trading.
