Shares of insurers were mixed after the Federal Reserve cut a key interest rate 0.25 percentage points Wednesday afternoon.
The Federal Reserve cut the federal funds rate to 2 percent. The board gave no direct indication as to whether this would be the last in a string of rate cuts that started in late 2007 to help stimulate a sagging economy and weak financial markets.
Shares of American International Group Inc. fell 18 cents to $46.82.
Chubb Corp. shares fell 13 cents to $53.45.
Shares of bond insurer Ambac Financial Group Inc. rose 39 cents, or 9 percent, to $4.78.
Mortgage insurer MGIC Investment Corp. shares rose 38 cents, or 2.9 percent, to $13.30.
