Shares of Sun Microsystems Inc. may trade actively on Friday, after the server and software maker posted a surprising fiscal third-quarter loss.
Shares of the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company sank in aftermarket trading Thursday, after Sun also forecast flat revenues for the fourth quarter.
Bebe Stores Inc. posted a 35 percent lower fiscal third-quarter profit, but results topped expectations by a penny when adjusted. The retailer's sales slipped 2 percent during the quarter as well.
And MetLife Inc.'s profit slipped 37 percent. Bad credit, a weak U.S. dollar and lower interest rates hurt the insurer's investments.
