Emerging markets oil and gas ADRs were mixed Tuesday afternoon despite record-high crude prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Prices for the fossil fuel touched $122 per barrel on the Nymex Tuesday as supply concerns rattled investors' nerves.
Yet two oil ADRs based in China fell during the session.
Shares of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. lost $1.12 to $109.35 and shares of PetroChina Co. shed 64 cents to $155.63.
Hong Kong's CNOOC Ltd. jumped $5.54, or 3.2 percent, to $180.75 and South Africa's Sasol Ltd. gained $3.34, or 5.7 percent, to $62.
The Bank of New York Emerging Markets ADR Index _ which includes shares of companies based in China, South Africa, Brazil and more _ rose 2.99 points to 383.19. The Bank of New York Composite ADR Index gained 0.65 points to 185.96 as the U.S. markets rose in afternoon trading.
