Cedar Fair Entertainment 1Q loss narrows on extra days

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. said Tuesday its first-quarter loss narrowed, helped by five extra calendar days in the period and an earlier Easter and spring break season.
The amusement and water park operator reported a loss of $43.8 million, or 81 cents per limited partner unit, compared with a loss of $55.1 million, or $1.02 per limited partner unit, in the prior year.
Analysts expected a loss of $1.05 per limited partner unit, according to a Thomson Financial survey.
Revenue for the period ended March 30 grew 35 percent to $40.4 million from $30 million.
Admission revenue rose to $17.6 million from $11.3 million, while food, merchandise and games sales improved to $17.7 million from $14 million.
