Opening Glance: Telecom equipment

Telecommunications equipment stocks headed mostly lower along with the rest of Wall Street Tuesday ahead of industry leader Cisco's quarterly report, scheduled for after the market close.

The broader market retreated following disappointing results from mortgage lender Fannie Mae, homebuilder D.R. Horton and Swiss bank UBS.

How some key telecom equipment stocks performed Tuesday:

Cisco Systems Inc. fell 30 cents to $25.98.

Alcatel-Lucent's American depositary shares rose 4 cents to $6.86.

Nortel Networks Corp., fell 19 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $8.11.

Juniper Networks Inc., lost 49 cents to $28.05.
