Apparel maker Citi Trends Inc. said Wednesday its sales increased 13.5 percent in the first quarter.
For the quarter ended May 3, sales grew to $121 million from $106.6 million in the year-ago period.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected slightly higher sales of $121.6 million.
Meanwhile, the company said its same-store sales edged up 0.3 percent in the period.
Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, is a key indicator of retailer performance because it measures growth at existing stores rather than newly opened ones.
Shares gained 2 cents to $20.38 in aftermarket trading, after ending the regular session down 60 cents at $20.36.
