Closing Glance: Insurers fall on some weak 1Q results

Shares of most insurers declined Thursday, as shares of Conseco Inc. and Protective Life Corp. fell due to worse-than-expected first-quarter financial results.

Here is a look at how shares of some insurers fared Thursday:

Protective Life fell $2.08, or 4.8 percent, to $41.61.

Conseco fell $1.41, or 11.7 percent, to $10.61.

Assured Guaranty Ltd. fell 39 cents to $25.39.

Mercury General Corp. fell 55 cents to $49.85.
