Investment Technology Group Inc., a provider of technology-based trading platforms, said Thursday average daily trading volume in April fell 4 percent.
Average daily trading volume in April was 179 million shares, with a total of 3.9 billion shares traded during the month. During the same month last year, average daily trading volume was 186 million shares, with 3.7 billion total shares traded.
There were 22 trading days in April, compared with just 20 in April 2007.
Through the first four months of 2008, Investment Technology Group customers have traded an average of 213 million shares per day.
