Aerospace and defense stocks gained ground in morning trading as the markets rose following reports of retail sales that were less gloomy than some had expected and fewer unemployment claims.
Results from key stocks in the sector included:
General Dynamics Corp. edged up 51 cents to $90.19.
United Technologies Corp. gained 35 cents to $73.38.
L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. added 96 cents to $110.12.
Boeing Co. missed out on the gains, falling 21 cents to $84.34.
