Ameren Corp., an electric and natural gas utility, spent more than $1.3 million in the first quarter to lobby on proposed legislation to cap greenhouse gases and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
The St. Louis-based company also lobbied the federal government on bills related to renewable energy standards and tax credits, increased funding for the low-income home energy assistance program, nuclear energy and other matters.
In the first three months of the year, the company lobbied Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers, according to the amended report filed April 21 with the House clerk's office.
Tom Horgan, former legislative assistant for Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., and Shaun Garrison, who was a legislative assistant to Rep. Diane Watson, D-Calif., are among those registered to lobby for the company.
