NEW YORK (AP) _ Sotheby's said Friday it swung to a loss in the first quarter, as the auction house reported a decrease in single owner sales and lower commission margins.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) _ Power company AES Corp. said it swung to a first-quarter profit, mostly driven by strength in the company's generation business in Latin America as well as higher prices across all regions.

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Linde AG said Friday that first-quarter profits fell 64 percent compared with last year, when the industrial gasses and engineering company recorded the sale of some businesses.

HOUSTON (AP) _ Southern Union Co.'s first-quarter net income rose 5.6 percent on higher revenue from the interstate natural gas pipeline company's gathering and processing segment.

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) _ Electrical wire manufacturer Coleman Cable Inc. said Thursday its first-quarter profit rose 15 percent on higher sales from newly acquired companies.
