McAfee director exercises options for 45,000 shares

A director of Internet security company McAfee Inc. exercised options for 45,000 shares of common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Leslie G. Denend reported exercising the options on Monday for $12.92 to $16.84 apiece and then selling the same number of shares on the same day for $34.33 apiece.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

McAfee is based in Santa Clara, Calif.
