A senior vice president of International Business Machines Corp. exercised options for 75,000 shares of common stock, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings Friday.
In Form 4's filed with the SEC, J. Randall Macdonald reported exercising the options on Thursday for $111.87 apiece and then selling 74,107 shares on the same day for $124.65 to $124.82 apiece. Macdonald also surrendered 2,522 shares back to the company for $124.46 apiece.
Insiders can surrender shares as a way to cover either taxes or the cost of exercising options.
Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.
