Pan American Silver names Busby as operating chief

Mining company Pan American Silver Corp. said Wednesday it appointed Steven Busby to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

The 48-year-old Busby, whose appointment is effective immediately, formerly served as senior vice president of project development.

Shares of the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company, which mines in North and South America, rose 69 cents, or 2 percent, to $34.93 in midday trading.
