Prudential Financial CEO assumes chairmanship

Prudential Financial Inc.'s chief executive has succeeded his predecessor as chairman, the life insurer said Wednesday.
John Strangfeld assumed the role from Arthur F. Ryan following the company's annual shareholder meeting Tuesday.
Strangfeld, 54, took over as CEO following Ryan's retirement at the end of last year. He has worked for Prudential for 30 years.
Prudential shares added $1.11 to close at $74.97.
