El Paso Pipeline names William A. Smith to board

El Paso Pipeline Partners L.P. said Thursday it named William A. Smith to the board of its general partner.

The addition of Smith, 63, gives the El Paso Pipeline GP Co. LLC board seven directors, three of whom are independent.

Smith, a managing director and partner in Houston investment banking and energy advisory firm Galway Group L.P., retired from El Paso Corp. in 2002 as executive vice president and chairman of the company's Merchant Energy Global Gas Group.

El Paso Pipeline shares rose 7 cents to close at $23.08.
