On the Watch: Brocade posts 2Q profit

Shares of Brocade Communications Systems Inc., a data networking technologies company, may trade actively Thursday, after fiscal second-quarter profit jumped partly because of a tax benefit.

Adjusted results beat analyst expectations by a penny per share. Shares rose 4 percent after-hours.

Agilent Technologies Inc., which makes scientific equipment, said fiscal second-quarter profit rose on robust demand from customers in the Asia Pacific region.

Revenue rose 10 percent and came in better than expected.
