Industrial output fell for the second straight month at more than double the rate predicted by analysts.

Also, the Labor Department said the number of jobless claims grew last week, although the increase was in line with analyst expectations.

How shares of some major media companies were trading Thursday morning:

Gannett Co., down 45 cents to $30.

Time Warner Inc., down 7 cents to $16.20.

New York Times Co., down 7 cents to $19.44.

Walt Disney Co., down 4 cents to $34.76.

News Corp., down 9 cents to $19.59.
