Opening Glance: Telecom Services mixed

Telecom carriers opened mixed Thursday along with the rest of Wall Street, following a government report showing an increase in unemployment benefit claims and another saying industrial production dropped by more than expected in April.

How some key telecom stocks performed Thursday:

AT&T Inc. rose 18 cents to $39.80.

Sprint Nextel Corp. fell 2 cents to $9.26.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell 35 cents to $38.60.

Qwest Communications International Inc. rose 3 cents to $4.74.
