Shares of heavy engineering companies finished higher Friday, though broader markets were mixed following reports that crude prices set another record near $128 a barrel and consumer confidence plunged to a 28-year low.

McDermott International Inc., up $1.82, or 3.1 percent, to $60.36.
Granite Construction Inc., up 62 cents to $36.95.
Pike Electric Corp., up 22 cents to $14.01.
Shaw Group Inc., up $2.55, or 4.7 percent, to $56.88
