Nasdaq OMX's April equity volume rises 52 percent

Exchange operator Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. said Friday average daily equity trades on its exchanges increased 52 percent in April.

About 9.3 million trades were executed each day in April on Nasdaq OMX exchanges. Those trades totaled about $85.2 billion each day, a 42 percent increase from the year-ago period.

Average daily derivative products traded on Nordic Exchanges totaled 412,800 contracts in April. An additional 156,900 per day were traded on EDX.
