Sina launches China news Web site in English

Shanghai-based Internet portal operator Sina Corp. said Friday it launched an English news site intended to offer China-related current events coverage and content.

The site is located at english.sina.com, and Sina said over time it plans to make the site a way for international readers to easily access China-related information.

The company will post English-language coverage of the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games on the site.

Sina shares fell 2 cents to $54.91 in after-hours electronic trading, after finishing regular trading down $1.28 at $54.93.
