Shares of insurers finished mixed Monday as the broaders markets fluctuated after new data showed the economy is still growing, although at a sluggish pace.

How shares of major insurers fared:

Mortgage insurer PMI Group Inc., up 5 cents to $5.99.

American International Group Inc., down 39 cents to $38.95.

Progressive Corp., down 8 cents to $18.83.

Safeco Corp., up 6 cents to $67.
