Health care equipment and supply stocks inched higher in early trading Wednesday, in line with the broader market, despite record oil prices. Investors anxiously awaited the Energy Department's weekly petroleum inventory data, to be released this morning, as well as the minutes from the Federal Reserve's meeting last month.
How shares of some major health care equipment and supply companies fared shortly after the opening bell:
Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose 37 cents to $45.90.
Boston Scientific Inc. added 5 cents to $13.60.
Stryker Corp. gained 4 cents to $62.34.
Baxter International Inc. rose 26 cents to $61.63.
