Internet software and services stocks mostly rose Wednesday morning, with VeriSign Inc. gaining some ground after privately held Freedom Wireless Inc. said it settled a patent-infringement suit against the company.
Freedom Wireless said the companies intend to file a final consent judgment in favor of Freedom Wireless, which runs many of the Internet's core directory systems.

VeriSign Inc. rose 66 cents to $40.65.
Yahoo Inc. fell 37 cents to $27.11.
Google Inc. rose 58 cents to $579.18.
EBay Inc. rose 26 cents to $30.88.
Akamai Technologies Inc. rose 92 cents to $40.78.
