Opening Glance: Gold mining shares waver

Shares of gold mining companies wavered in Thursday morning trading even as the price of the precious metal gained in European trading.

Gold recently traded in London at $928.25 per troy ounce, up from $927 late Wednesday.

Here is a look at how shares of some gold miners fared in morning trading:

Goldcorp Inc., down 74 cents to $42.27

Gold Fields Ltd., up 9 cents to $14.11

Newmont Mining Corp., down 25 cents to $49.35

Barrick Gold Corp., down 53 cents to $42.16
