Hardinge president and CEO stepping down

Hardinge Inc., a metal-cutting equipment maker, said Friday its president and chief executive, J. Patrick Ervin resigned.

He was replaced Thursday by Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Richard Simons. Simons has also been named to the board of directors.

Ervin also resigned from the company's board. he will stay with Hardinge in a consulting role.
