Mobile TeleSystems names Mikhail Shamolin CEO, president

Russian mobile phone operator Mobile TeleSystems OJSC said Thursday it named Mikhail Shamolin president and chief executive, replacing Leonid Melamed.
Melamed is leaving to become president and CEO of Sistema, a private sector consumer services company in Russia and the majority shareholder of Mobile TeleSystems, the company said.
Shamolin, who joined Mobile TeleSystems in 2005 as vice president of sales and customer service, later served as the head of MTS Russia.
American Depositary Shares of Moscow-based Mobile TeleSystems fell 95 cents to $86.97.
