OmniVision sees 1Q income within range of Street

OmniVision Technologies Inc., a producer of image sensors, on Thursday projected fiscal first-quarter earnings within range of analyst estimates.
The company forecast quarterly earnings between 14 cents and 27 cents per share, or between 27 cents and 40 cents per share excluding stock-based compensation expenses and related tax effects.
OmniVision also forecast revenue ranging between $170 million and $190 million during the quarter, which began May 1.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial, on average, forecast fiscal first-quarter earnings of 36 cents per share on revenue of $190.7 million. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.
Shares of OmniVision fell 59 cents, or 3.5 percent, to close at $16.53. In aftermarket electronic activity, the stock lost another $1.28, or 7.7 percent, to $15.25.
