The following recalls have been announced:
_ About 20,000 Simmons Kids crib mattresses manufactured in the U.S. by Simmons Kids, a division of The Simmons Manufacturing Co. LLC. The mattresses are recalled because some of them are narrower than the 27-1/4 inches required to prevent a gap between the mattress and the crib's railings, which could trap infants. The company has received one report of an infant getting wedged in this gap. The mattresses were sold at Pottery Barn Kids and other nursery furniture shops between July 2006 and May 2008. _ About 5,800 Chinese-made SoundStation2W wireless conference phones with lithium ion batteries, because the battery packs can overheat, posing a risk of burns or fires. The phones were distributed by Polycom Inc. and the battery packs were distributed by Gold Peak Industries Ltd. Polycom has received one report of an overheated battery pack causing minor property damage.
Phones and replacement battery packs were sold online, through catalogs and over the phone, as well as at office supply stores, the Polycom Web store, Fry's Electronics and other authorized dealers around the country between December 2007 and May 2008. _ About 2,200 Animal Tracking Explorer Kits, manufactured in China and imported by MindWare, because the powder labeled as "plaster of Paris" is actually calcium hydroxide, which poses a risk of skin and eye irritation. No injuries have been reported. The kits were sold on http://www.MindWareOnline.com and through the company's catalog between September and December 2007.
