Jarden chief executive buys shares

The chairman and chief executive of Jarden Corp., which makes consumer products under brands like Coleman and Marmot and small appliances under brands like Mr. Coffee, Sunbeam and Oster, bought 100,000 shares of common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Martin E. Franklin reported he bought the shares Thursday for an average of 18.14 apiece.

Insiders file Form 4s with the SEC to report transactions in their companies' shares. Open market purchases and sales must be reported within two business days of the transaction.

Jarden is based in Rye, N.Y.
