Telecommunications equipment maker UTStarcom Inc. on Monday said its board named Peter Blackmore as its chief executive, succeeding Hong Liang Lu, effective July 1.
The company said Blackmore, 61, will also become part of its board. He has been the company's president and chief operating officer since last year, and previously worked at Unisys.
Lu, 53, will become UTStarcom's executive chairman and work as a company ambassador focusing on Asia, UTStarcom said. He will continue to serve as a full-time employee.
The company said the changes follow its previously disclosed succession plans.
UTStarcom also said its current board chairman, Thomas Toy, will become its lead director on July 1.
UTStarcom shares fell a penny in after-hours trading, after finishing regular trading up 8 cents at $5.61.
