Silicon Image Inc., which makes semiconductors for high-definition content applications, said Monday it is being sued by privately held Analogix Semiconductor Inc.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Analogix alleges that Silicon Image violates antitrust law in how it runs its HDMI Licensing LLC and Simplay Labs LLC units, Silicon Image said.
Silicon Image said it believes the complaint is a response to a January 2007 lawsuit filed by Silicon Image against Analogix, accusing it of copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and unlawful business practices.
"It is unfortunate that, as the trial date for our case against Analogix approaches, they have chosen to file a complaint against Silicon Image containing allegations that are without merit and an attempt to distract from the legitimate issues about Analogix's business practices raised in our litigation against the company," said Edward Lopez, Silicon Image's chief legal officer, in a statement.
Calls to Analogix were not immediately returned.
Shares of Silicon Image rose 14 cents to $7.54 in late afternoon trading.
