Acura pain pill meets goal in late-stage trial

Acura Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday that it late-stage trial of its pain pill Acurox met its goal.
The drug contains the prescription pain drug oxycodone, but with other ingredients to deter abuse.
Under an agreement signed in October, King Pharmaceuticals Inc. has a license to commercialize the drug.
An Acurox application is expected to be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration by the end of the year.
Shares of Acura rose 15 cents to $9.21 in morning trading, while King shares rose 26 cents to $9.77.
