Nortel spent $170,000 to lobby in first quarter

Nortel Networks Corp., which makes networking equipment and services, spent $170,000 in the first quarter to lobby on tax policy and other issues, according to a recent disclosure form.
The Toronto-based company also lobbied on U.S. federal government on free trade agreements and health information technology issues, according to the form filed April 21 with the House clerk's office.
Besides Congress, Nortel lobbied the Department of Health and Human Services in the first three months of the year.
