Urban Outfitters Inc. is launching a fifth concept, a wholesale brand for its Anthropologie chain, which begins to ship next week, an executive said Wednesday.
The brand, called Leifsdottir, will begin shipping to about 100 stores, including luxury department stores Nordstrom Inc. and Bergdorf Goodman, and "bigger specialty stores," next week, said Urban Outfitters chief financial officer, John Kyees.
Kyees made the remarks, which were webcast, at the William Blair & Co. annual growth stock conference in Chicago.
Pieces in the line will retail between about $220 and $280 and hang alongside designer brands such as Nanette Lepore and Marc by Marc Jacobs, Kyees said.
The concept is the fifth for Urban Outfitters, which also operates namesake stores, Free People and Anthropologie stores, along with a Terrain gardening brand.
Urban Outfitters has been among the strongest apparel retail performers amid a consumer spending slowdown. In May, the company reported first-quarter profit rose 45 percent, as sales grew 25 percent to $394.3 million.
