RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Circuit City Stores Inc. said Thursday its loss widened in the first quarter because of a more than 11 percent drop in sales at established stores.

FREMONT, Calif. (AP) _ Computer component maker Smart Modular Technologies Inc. said Thursday it swung to a fiscal third-quarter loss because of charges, although revenue also fell.

ORRVILLE, Ohio (AP) _ Jams and jellies producer J.M. Smucker Co. on Thursday said its fourth quarter earnings fell 13 percent on higher raw material costs and a comparison with year-ago results when its Jif peanut butter brand got a lift amid problems for a competitor.
