Shares of electrical equipment companies opened lower on Friday as oil prices rose and worries persisted about the health of the financial sector.
Crude oil futures jumped $3.59 to $135.52 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Meanwhile, Moody's Investor Service downgraded two of the nation's biggest bond insurers, and Merrill Lynch cut its earnings estimates and price targets on a number of banks.

Wesco International Inc., down 76 cents to $42.24.
Avnet Inc., down 99 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $28.86.
