Fluor Corp., an engineering and construction company with domestic and overseas operations, spent $294,792 lobbying in the first quarter, according to a recent disclosure report.
The Irving, Texas-based company lobbied on numerous issues, including funding for Energy Department nuclear facilities, transportation projects in California, military reconstruction activities in Iraq and Afghanistan, embassy construction for the State Department, U.S. government policy toward Libya and trade matters related to China.
Besides Congress, Fluor lobbied the departments of Commerce, Energy, Transportation and State, as well as the Air Force, Army and Army Corps of Engineers, according to the report filed April 16 with the House clerk's office.
Howie Lind, formerly a staffer in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, was among those lobbying on behalf of the company in the first three months of the year.
