Mich. publisher heading for Palm Springs paper

Richard A. Ramhoff, president and publisher at the Lansing State Journal, has been appointed president and publisher of The Desert Sun newspaper in Palm Springs, Calif.
He also will serve as a group vice president of Gannett's new West Group.
He has been president and publisher of the Lansing State Journal and a group vice president of the McLean, Va.-based company's Midwest Group since May 2007.
Ramhoff previously was president and publisher of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell for about two years.
Melissa Alford, human resources director for Gannett's Michigan Group, will serve as interim publisher of the Lansing paper until the media company names a new president and publisher.
