Potlatch Corp., a forest products company, said Friday Gordon Jones, 58, will be president and chief executive of the planned spinoff of the company's pulp-based businesses.

In April, Potlatch's board approved a plan to spin off the company's pulp-based business to create two stand-alone companies. One will be a real estate investment trust that owns forestland. The second will be the pulp-based manufacturing company.

The company estimates the spin-off will likely occur in the fourth quarter.
