Global Communications files 3 lawsuits

Voicemail and fax services company j2 Global Communications Inc. said Monday it filed three patent infringement lawsuits against Protus IP Solutions Inc., Captaris Inc., and EasyLink Services International Corp.

J2 Global, which filed the lawsuits in U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas, is seeking monetary damages for past patent infringement and injunctive relief preventing the companies from infringing on patents in the future.

J2 Global has pending patent infringement cases against Protus and a separate patent infringement case against document delivery services company Captaris.

J2 Global owns 57 U.S. and foreign patents and has 49 pending patent applications.

Calls to Protus IP Solutions, Captaris and EasyLink Services for comment were not immediately returned Monday morning.
